"Ruth is an exceptional French teacher. When I first moved to France in 2008 I had absolutely no understanding of the French language but being a willing student quickly enrolled myself in several local language courses in the centre of Paris.

 

Initially, going to lessons was a daunting and overwhelming experience - it was immediately apparent that in order to make any progress (critical to keeping up my motivation to continue with the lessons) that I needed the direct input of someone who not only knew the French language to a native level, but could also explain to me in clear, concise English the differences and similarities between the two languages.

 

Many of the French native speakers I had as teachers were, despite their training, totally unable to explain to me the intricate workings of the French language and even further unable to relate them to my basis for comparison (English).

 

I began working with Ruth over the telephone to great success.

 

Fast forward several years and again in France I undertook the TCF (a gruelling, internationally recognised test proving your mastery and understanding of the French language) in Paris. I was awarded the unheard of result of 20/20 for the oral exam (the French, on principle, never give a perfect score), a result I share in this testimonial without hesitation or conceit as I attribute my success entirely to Ruth’s thorough, logical teaching and her own  irrefutable mastery of the French language, which she so generously and patiently communicates to her students.
